2016 Fireside Chat with Surveyor David Van Meter
February was again kind to The Fort Boonesborough Foundation with another warm and balmy Saturday night. This weeks performer was Surveyor David Van Meter who engaged the audience in learning about surveying land on the frontier.
Surveying land was a vital skill on the frontier. Kentucky’s overlapping land claims made by multiple surveyors confused the courts and the settlers for years. Even today historians look back and try to untangle the overlapping land claims.
