Women took center stage at Fort Boonesborough over the weekend of June 22 and 23 for the Fourth Annual Women on the Frontier. Women from as far away as Alabama and Illinois came together to share, thoughts, skills and insights into the original Women on the Frontier. Saturday began with a few sprinkles of rain but it didn’t stop these women. Both lecture style and “hands-on “ sessions were spread throughout the day. Two program ran simultaneously in each time slot giving women who had attended last year an opportunity to learn a new skill. Back from last year were courses in frontier basics like firestarting, flintlock skills and basic horsesense. New sessions were on life as an Indian captive, building a persona, fireside cooking, basketweaving, candledipping and more. Clothing was also an important topic.
