The 4th Annual Gathering of Descendants June 23, 2018

The 4th annual Gathering of Descendants brought visitors from as far away as California and included 2 bus loads of visitors from the Boone Society who were holding their bi-annual meeting in Lexington Kentucky this year.

Visitors could learn about and share their genealogy with the groups set up in the center of the fort. From historical societies to authors everyone present had an interest in the early settlers. Their was also a shuttle to take visitors down to the original fort site.

New to the event this year was The Callaway Family Association. Along with a wide assortment of books and articles was the family crest painted by one of the members.

The Richard Callaway family was as well known as the Boone family on the early frontier. It was the Callaway daughters Fanny and Betsey Callaway that were with Jemima Boone when captured from the river outside the fort by Indians in 1775.

The original Fort Boonesborough was built by Daniel Boone and his men in 1775
